COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou wrestling redshirt senior, Alan Waters, was named the MAC Wrestler of the Week Wednesday by the league office. Waters picked up a big win on Nov. 1 at the NWCA All-Star Classic over Top-5 wrestler Joey Dance (Virginia Tech) and followed up with a 125 pound event championship at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open this past weekend.

The 2013 NCAA All-American, three-time NCAA qualifier and two-time conference champion looks to continue his outstanding Tiger career this season. After taking his redshirt last season, Waters begins the upcoming 2014-15 campaign as a Top-5 wrestler in his respective weight class.

Waters’ perfect 4-0 record last Saturday in Ames, Iowa improved his career win total to 105, and currently stands T-14 in the all-time Mizzou wrestling wins leaders list.

Wednesday’s honor marks the second career MAC Wrestler of the Week award for Waters. The Kansas City, Mo. native also picked up three Big 12 Wrestler of the Week awards while the Tigers competed in the Big 12 Conference.
