Don Bosco wrestling champ picks Minnesota over Iowa State, Nebraska

Bart Reiter, a three-time state wrestling champion at Don Bosco of Gilbertville, said today he will wrestle in college at Minnesota.

The Golden Gophers landed the services of a second member of the family from Gilbertville. Mack Reiter was a three-time all-American at Minnesota after winning four state championships and forging a 182-3 record with 134 pins for the Dons between 2000-03.

Mack Reiter will be a graduate assistant at Minnesota this season. At the same time, his brother will try to become the 18th wrestler in state history to win four titles.

Bart Reiter, who is ranked No. 80 nationally by InterMat, takes a 118-2 record into his final season.

There never have been two Iowa four-time champions from the same family.

Bart Reiter said he chose the Gophers over Nebraska and Iowa State.

“I put all the pros and cons of each school and weighed it all out,” Reiter said. “I really wanted to get the decision out of the way. I was getting tired of thinking about it and stressing about it.”
