Fargo 2018 – Five Breakout Wrestlers from Cadet Freestyle

The Cadet Freestyle National Championships have come and gone and as is always the case, a group of previously unranked and sometimes, unheralded wrestlers emerged with their performances throughout the tournament. Here are five wrestlers whose stock has risen after Fargo.

Nicolar Rivera (Wisconsin) – After a runner-up finish at Cadet Folkstyle Nationals in the spring, incoming freshman Nicolar Rivera was firmly on my radar for rankings purposes within the Class of 2022 and at 106 lbs. Rivera had a 2-2 performance at the UWW Cadet World Team Trials while wrestling at 51 kg and dropped a pair of matches at the Cadet Duals, which prevented him from climbing into the rankings. Back down at 106 for Cadet Freestyle Nationals, Nicolar was outstanding in claiming a title.
