Five Elite HS Seniors Seeking Their First State Title

A number, you could maybe even say a majority, of wrestlers toward the top of The Open Mat high school rankings hold major tournament wins. We’ve got Super 32 winners, Ironman winners, Beast of the East winner, Doc B winners and the list goes on. All of these wrestlers, at least those eligible to do so, would tell you that winning a state championship is at or toward the top of their lists of things they want to accomplish.

So it’s pretty surprising when you run down the rankings and see the amount of talented seniors who have yet to take home the top spot in their respective state. The following five wrestlers, in particular, are elite names looking to grab their first state crown.

1) JoJo Aragona - No. 1 at 138 - Pope John XXIII, NJ
