We head to Virginia Beach and NHSCA High School Nationals for this week’s Adidas High School Wrestler of the Week. This week’s winner is E’lan Heard of La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Heard, a junior, had an impressive run to win the 152-pound junior division, in one of the tournament’s toughest brackets which included a number of state champs and three ranked wrestlers. In the quarters, he took out West Virginia state champion John Martin Best who was ranked No. 12 in the country. He then dropped California state runner-up and No. 7 at 138, Chase Saldate, a Michigan State commit. He finished the job with a win over AJ Kovacs of Connecticut, who had made a move from Connecticut powerhouse Danbury to Iona Prep in New York for the high school season and won a New York state championship. In the semis, Kovacs dispatched of Pennsylvania state champion and No. 17 at 145, Andrew Cerniglia.

Congratulations to E’lan Heard, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
