This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week is Mosha Schwartz of Ponderosa High School in Parker,
Colorado. Schwartz had himself a fantastic weekend, taking home the 126-pound title at the Doc
Buchanan Invitation in Clovis, California. Since making the descent to 126, Schwartz has struggled a bit.
That wasn’t the case at Doc B. He started the tournament with a 20-5 tech fall and then a fall in 4:32. In
the round of 32 he claimed a 13-7 win before knocking off third-seeded Henry Porter 6-4 in the
quarterfinals. In the semis, he found himself trailing late but came up with a takedown and rideout in the
final minute to win 4-3 over No. 19 Dylan Ragusin. It was Schwartz’ finals win, however, that really turned
heads. After falling behind No. 3 Robbie Howard 7-1, he came storming back to tie the match in the third
period and then got the winning takedown in sudden victory to take a 12-10 win and the championship.
Schwartz is a senior and will continue his wrestling career in college at Northern Colorado.
Congratulations to Mosha Schwartz, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week
