This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week is Paddy Gallagher of St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. Over the weekend, Gallagher claimed his first state title after finishing third a year ago. The sophomore didn’t just impress by winning the 160-pound, Division I bracket, but it was more of how he did so. Gallagher dominated each of his first three opponents, posting 24-9, 25-10 and 20-4 technical falls. In the finals, he squared off with Connor Brady of Olentangy Liberty. Brady came into the bout ranked second in the country and will continue his wrestling career next year at Virginia Tech. Despite falling behind 3-1, Gallagher battled back to top Brady 7-6. His performance also helped St. Eds to capture a team championship win over Cincinnati LaSalle narrowly. This was the Eagles 33rd team championship and sixth in a row.
Congratulations to Paddy Gallagher, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
