This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week is Austin Cooley of Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pennsylvania. Cooley, a senior and Massachusetts native, is committed to the University of Pittsburgh and went 3-0 over the weekend at Lock Haven University’s Mat Town Open to take the top spot at 197 pounds. In the opening round, Cooley took an 8-3 decision victory over Columbia’s Mike Bulkin. He then defeated Kyle Murphy of Bloomsburg by fall at the 4:15 mark of the semifinals, and in the finals, he pulled out a 3-2 win over Columbia’s Sam Wustefeld. Cooley is currently ranked as the No. 74 overall recruit in the 2019 class. He is, however, unranked nationally because he is out of NFHS eligibility. Cooley has placed third and sixth in his two appearances at National Preps and won Eastern States a year ago.
Congratulations to Austin Cooley, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week
