The Adidas High School Wrestler of the Week Award this week goes to Vance VomBaur of Windsor High School in Windsor, Colorado. Over the weekend, VomBaur, just a junior, won the 133-pound bracket in the amateur division of the Cowboy Open. In doing so, VomBaur went 5-0 and allowed only six points throughout the tournament. He picked up one tech fall and one major decision and knocked off five collegiate opponents, including a 7-2 victory over Wyoming’s Jake Svihel, a four-time Minnesota state finalist and one-time champ, in the finals. VomBaur, who started the season ranked No. 12 in the country at 126, was a state runner-up as a freshman and missed the state tournament last year while recovering from a knee injury. He’s currently uncommitted at the college level.
Congratulations to Vance Vombaur, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
