High School Wrestler of the Week

Adidas High School Wrestler of the Week – November 5th, 2018

This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week is Brendon Garcia of Pueblo County High School in Pueblo, Colorado. Garcia, a senior, went 5-0 at Monster Match Nationals with two falls and two major decisions to claim the championship at 113 pounds. Currently, Garcia is ranked sixth in the country and will continue his wrestling career in college for coach Mark Branch at Wyoming. Over the weekend, Garcia won his opening match with an 11-2 major decision, then picked up a fall in :45, advanced to the semis with an injury default. In the semi’s he majored Angelo Lozado, a freshman that was a Colorado middle school state champion in 2017-18, 11-2 and then earned a fall over Wyoming state champ Tate Stoddard in the finals at the 4:13 mark. The future Cowboy is a three-time Colorado state champion and a two-time Fargo champ in Junior Greco-Roman. He also placed top-three in Junior Freestyle for the third time this year.
