This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week is Emily Shilson of Centennial High School in Blaine, Minnesota. Over the weekend, Shilson won a gold medal at 43 kilograms at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Shilson went 5-0 at the event and is the first American to win gold in wrestling at the event. Already a UWW Cadet gold medalist, Shilson defeated 2017 Cadet bronze-medalist Simran of India in the finals 11-6 after defeating 2018 Cadet silver-medalist Shashana Nazarova (Azerbaijan) to reach the gold medal match. Just two of her matches went the distance, as Shilson recorded to tech falls and one pin en route gold. Shilson was also the first member of Team USA to win gold in any sport at the 2018 games.
Congratulations to Emily Shilson, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week
