The Adidas High School Wrestler of the Week Award this week goes to Shayne Van Ness of Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. Van Ness, who entered the weekend ranked No. 3 in the nation, won a four-man bracket at FloWrestling’s Who’s Number One event to regain the top spot that he held much of last year. The junior, who is ranked No. 3 in the 2021 recruiting class rankings, first took out No. 2 Dominick Serrano with a 16-6 tech fall in the semis. After falling behind Serrano 6-2 and nearly getting pinned, Van Ness scored 14 unanswered points. In the finals, he faced top-ranked Jesse Mendez. Shayne once again fell behind early, this time 6-0, but fought back and used a late takedown to earn a 10-9 victory. Van Ness is currently uncommitted and is the top prospect on the East Coast for the class. As a freshman in 2018-19, Van Ness was a runner-up at the National Prep Championships.

Congratulations to Shayne Van Ness, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
