This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week, Jacob Moran of Portage High School in Indiana, earns the honor after taking home a championship at the IndianaMat Hoosier Preseason Open. Jacob captured a title at 116 lbs by going 5-0 at perhaps the tournament’s toughest weight class. In the semifinals, Moran racked up a 12-1 major decision over Jacob Mann (Ladue Watkins, MO), a place winner at the UWW Cadet World Team Trials, Cadet Folkstyle Nationals, and NHSCA Freshman Nationals. The championship finals pitted Moran against upstart freshman Zeke Seltzer (Cathedral, IN), currently ranked 17th in the nation 4-3. In the three matches leading up to the semifinals, Moran tallied two falls and a decision. Jacob is now a senior and a returning 106 lb state champion in Indiana’s single class system. This spring Moran won a title at the NHSCA Junior National Championships, defeating Cadet Greco-Roman world team member Brenden Chaowanapibool (Bonney Lake, WA) in the finals 3-2.
Congratulations to Jacob Moran TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week
