The Open Mat’s High School Wrestler of the Week Award goes to Dalton Harkins of Malvern Prep in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Harkins, a multiple-time National Prep placewinner, sent shockwaves through the high school wrestling world this weekend when he won the 152-pound division at Walsh Jesuit Ironman. Harkins opened the tournament with a 5-1 win. He then claimed a 2-0 win in the Round of 16 over Old Dominion commit BJ Bailey, who is ranked eighth in the country at 160. Dalton continued his incredible run in the quarters with a 4-1 win over No. 3-ranked Cole Handlovic, who is committed to Cornell. Harkins kept the momentum rolling right on through the semis when he dominated his way to a 9-2 victory over sixth-ranked Peyton Hall, a West Virginia commit. And finally, he claimed his turned in the biggest win of all, in the finals, with a fall in sudden victory over No. 2 Travis Mastrogiovanni, who recently pledged his commitment to Oklahoma State. Harkins is a senior and is currently committed to Army.

Congratulations to Dalton Harkins, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
