This week’s High School Wrestler of the Week award goes to Adam Fenner of Minisink Valley High School in Slate Hill, New York. Adam was one of the standouts for the Warriors this weekend as they captured a Division I Dual State Championship. The Dual Championship is in only its third year of existence in New York and this is the first time that high school has won the title. They finished second in 2018. Adam held down the 285 lb weight class for Minisink Valley and logged falls in all four of his matches at the state meet. Three of the four came in the first period. During the championship against Fulton, Adam recorded his quickest pin of the tournament in just over a minute.

After the action this weekend, Fenner’s season record moved to 40-1. Only a junior, Adam was a state placewinner last year for Minisink Valley, taking fifth place at 285 lbs. This year he was the only wrestler on his team to finish undefeated at “The Clash” in Minnesota. At the Eastern States Championship, Adam dropped a one-point decision in the semifinals to the same opponent he defeated in last season’s state fifth-place match.

Congratulations to Adam Fenner, TOM’s HS Wrestler of the Week.
