The Open Mat’s High School Wrestler of the Week Award goes to Timmy Ward of Canton Area High School in Canton, Pennsylvania. Over the weekend, Ward went 4-0 with a fall in the opening round to win the Bloomsburg High School Darren Klingerman Invitational at 170 pounds. While Ward didn’t picked up any ranked wins, his feat is impressive for another reason. This was Ward’s first tournament back on the mat since being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma a year ago. Ward, a state qualifier in 2018,as a sophomore, went into remission in the spring and this is his first season back on the mat. He’s now started the season 4-0 on his path to return back to the PIAA Championships in March.

Congratulations to Timmy Ward, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
