The Open Mat’s High School Wrestler of the Week Award powered by Adidas goes to Chad Bellis of Bloomington High School in Bloomington, Illinois. Bellis, a junior who won a state championship in Class 2A at 106 pounds a year ago, dominated the 113-pound field at the Ted DeRousse Invitational. Dominant may not even describe his performance. Bellis went 6-0 in his pool with five wins by fall, all in the first period, and a 16-0 tech fall in the second period in his other match. In the four-man bracket to decide a champ, he was just as spectacular. Bellis started out with a fall in 3:44 in the semifinals, and then topped himself in the finals with another in just 1:06. Currently unranked, Bellis has made a strong argument for moving into the rankings and remains presently uncommitted in the Class of 2021.

Congratulations to Chad Bellis, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
