Hortonville, Wisconsin’s Eric Barnett, the 52nd ranked recruit in the Class of 2019 announced Friday afternoon there would be a change in his plans for college. Barnett originally had committed to North Carolina in late 2017. He will now stay in-state to wrestle for new head coach Chris Bono and the Wisconsin Badgers. Eric is a two-time Wisconsin state champion, who won his second title while competing at 113 lbs. In the preseason, Barnett was runner-up at the Super 32 and last summer he was fourth in Junior National Greco-Roman. He was also a member of the Cadet Greco world team in 2015. Barnett is the second in-state commitment for Coach Bono within the last two weeks, Arrowhead’s Joshua Otto was the first. Eric projects as a 125 lber for the Badgers. This spring with the hiring of Bono, Connor Brown, his 125 lber from South Dakota State, announced he would be transferring to Wisconsin, as well. Brown will have three years of eligibility remaining.
