Five-star recruit Kevin Norstrem to be a Hokie

In one of the biggest out-of-state commitments in program history, Virginia Tech received a verbal commitment from AWN five-star recruit Kevin Norstrem of Brandon, Fla., on Monday.

Virginia Tech head coach Kevin Dresser already has received commitments from two wrestlers (Joey Dance and Zach Epperly) from Christiansburg High School, where he formerly coached and another nationally-ranked Virginia wrestler, Dennis Gustafson of Forest Park in Stafford, Va.

Norstrem, already a four-time high school state champion after winning three titles at Florida powerhouse Brandon and one at Tampa Bay Christian as an eighth-grader, is ranked seventh overall in the Class of 2013 and is ranked atop the 132-pound AWN preseason high school rankings.

Norstrem projects as a 133-pounder with a probability of moving up to 141 pounds at some point during his college career. Norstrem’s other accolades include national Junior Greco-Roman and folkstyle titles.
