One of the top remaining domino’s fell on the recruiting front today as Jace Luchau (Selma, CA) came off the board. The third-ranked 152 lber in the nation, Luchau, has decided to stay home and committed to Fresno State. Jace, ranked 34th overall in the Class of 2019, was one of only four top 50 seniors that had not made their college plans known. After placing fourth at the California State Championships in 2017-18, Luchau really began to improve his stock in the offseason. Jace took third at the UWW Cadet World Team Trials, in freestyle, losing only to Cadet world bronze medalist Alex Facundo (Davison, MI). He then went undefeated in freestyle at the Junior National Duals. Finally, Jace placed fifth in Junior Freestyle in Fargo, losing twice to a pair of graduated seniors. In October, Luchau was selected to participate in FloWrestling’s Who’s #1 dual, where he dropped a one-point decision to Andrew Alirez (Greeley East, CO).

Luchau is the fifth California native to commit to Troy Steiner’s FSU program. The Bulldogs are getting ready to start their second season of competition, after the revival of their program, and certainly, have a need for a wrestler of Luchau’s caliber.
