Recently, TOM got to talk with Detroit Central Catholic head coach Mitch Hancock about his team’s awesome season. The Shamrocks finished second in the Great Lakes Regional Team Rankings and had one of the top ten teams in the nation. Six DI-bound seniors led a group of 12 state medalists and nine finalists for Coach Hancock’s team. This squad also captured their fourth consecutive team title. We discuss the return of alum Kevin Beazley, an All-American while competing for Old Dominion and Michigan. Speaking of Old Dominion, two of Hancock’s seniors had originally signed with the team before they eliminated their wrestling program. Coach talks about the process of finding new homes for these seniors so late in the game. We also get into the controversial dual with Davison at the state meet, Hancock’s trek to the NCAA podium as a senior at Central Michigan, and what make CMU’s long-time head coach Tom Borrelli so great.
