Penn State got a pleasant surprise this Friday morning with their first big commitment from the high school Class of 2021. The fifth overall junior in the nation, Alex Facundo of Davison, Michigan, posted his commitment to Penn State on social media. Facundo has bounced between 160 and 170 lbs this season and is currently the top-ranked 170lber in the country. He projects at either 165 or 174 lbs for the Nittany Lions. While true freshmen Joe Lee and Carter Starocci are currently waiting in the wings at those weights, you have to sign a recruit of Facundo’s caliber.
In 2018, Alex won Cadet World bronze medal along with the Super 32. He followed with another Cadet world bronze in 2019. During his only trip to Fargo, in the Summer of 2017, Alex captured a Cadet national freestyle championship and was fourth in the Greco-Roman portion of the tournament. In each of his first two years of high school, Facundo has captured Michigan state titles.
