2018 World Championships – Day Six Bracket Analysis and Predictions (GR 55, 63, 72, 82)


The sixth day of competition from the World Championships from Budapest, Hungary will take place on Wednesday, October 24th. It will be the first day of the Greco-Roman competition.  Wrestlers at the 55 kg, 63 kg, 72 kg, and 82 kg weight classes will begin their tournaments and wrestle up until the finals. Friday, the repechage and finals will take place at these weight classes.

Here are the draws for each wrestler and their potential paths throughout each bracket and predictions for the weight class.

Sam Hazwinkel (55 kg)

Round of 16 vs. Ekrem Ozturk (Turkey)

Hazwinkel’s first opponent Ekrem Ozturk just turned 10 years old when Hazewinkel was completing his collegiate career at Oklahoma. In 2018, Ozturk won a World University gold medal, along with silver at the European U23 Championships, and a bronze at the Senior continental championship. His only world medal came in 2014 while as a Cadet he took a bronze.
