Today USA Wrestling announced that Nahshon Garrett has withdrawn from the 2018 World Championships due to an injury. He will be replaced at 61 kg by Joe Colon. Joe was a 2018 US Open champion and fell to Garrett in three bouts at the Final X Bethlehem event for the spot on the world team. Colon won the first bout only to have Nahshon storm back winning the final two. So far this year Colon has won the Dave Schultz Memorial and Pan-American Championships, taken a silver medal at the Medved International and took bronze at the Ziolkowski Memorial. Based on his international results in 2018, Colon has enough seeding points to earn the fourth seed at the World Championships. His 61 kg weight class will start competition on Saturday, October 20th.

Currently, Colon trains at the Valley RTC and is an assistant coach for Fresno State.
