For the second consecutive day, Team USA has had to announce that one of their representatives for the World Championships would have to withdraw due to injury. Yesterday it was Nahshon Garrett, the world team member for men’s freestyle 61 kg, and today it is Alli Ragan who will have to withdraw from women’s freestyle at 59 kg. Her replacement will be Jenna Burkert of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program. Initially, Ragan defeated Burkert in the Final X Lincoln qualifier in two straight matches, 4-0 and 5-0. Alli has won silver in each of the past two world championships and was on track to wrestle in her sixth straight world’s.

Burkert will be competing in her second world championship event. She has previously represented the United States at the 2014 World Championships at 60 kg. The women’s 59 kg weight class will start wrestling on Monday, October 22nd.
