Saturday’s NLWC Event Preview

We are lucky enough to have not one, but two, Senior-level events taking place this week. Last night’s Beat the Streets event was as good as expected and now we’ll move on to the card hosted by the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club on Rokfin. This will be the first foray by NLWC into the live-streaming game. If it goes on without a hitch and looks professional, could other schools/wrestling clubs be far behind? If nothing else, promoting this event has brought Cael Sanderson back to Twitter, which is a win. Sanderson and the NLWC have assembled an impressive card that features members of their club against top-flight Senior level competition from around the nation. While initially, some thought this would be a dual between the NLWC and Michigan’s Cliff Keen Wrestling Club, it does include other RTC/clubs. Even so, the CKWC is well-represented, with six wrestlers on the card. In total, the event will feature 13 matches.

It can be found on the Nittany Lion WC Rokfin Page and action will get underway Saturday night at 7:30pm eastern.

Below you’ll find a preview and predictions for all 13 matches on the card.

74 kg - Rick Durso vs. Malik Amine

We’re not sure what to expect from Rick Durso, a four-time national qualifier and 2014 All-American, for Franklin & Marshall. That made him the school’s first AA in 32 years. While Durso is a very capable opponent, its unclear where his freestyle skills are at this point in his career. His opponent, Malik Amine, has been very active on the international scene since his career at Michigan ended in 2019. Amine was a two-time national qualifier for the Wolverines and has been representing San Marino while wrestling freestyle. He has finished 15th and 13th at the last two European Championships and was also 13th at the 2020 World Championships.
