This afternoon, Iowa’s three-time national champion Spencer Lee, announced via social media that he would be skipping the 2021 Olympic Trials. The Trials will take place next week in Fort Worth, Texas. Lee disclosed in his post-NCAA finals interview that he was wrestling on a recently-torn ACL. While Lee was not quite as dominant as usual, he still managed to tech one opponent, major three others, and pitch a 7-0 shutout in the finals against third-seeded Brandon Courtney of Arizona State. A healthy Lee was expected to make a run at the 57 kg Olympic spot, as he dominated the field at Senior Nationals in December of 2019.
