On Saturday and Sunday from Akron, Ohio the U23 World Team will be decided at ten weight classes. The growth in this tournament is amazing comparing the number of entries from last year to this year  Below is an in-depth look at the five deepest and most intriguing weight classes and predictions for all ten.

This may be my favorite weight class of the tournament. There’s a lot to digest and lots of variables. The highest placer from the NCAA tournament is Tariq Wilson (NC State) who was third at 133. I’m sure everyone will be paying attention to see if he can build off of the momentum created by his crazy run at NCAA’s. Wilson’s NCAA consolation finals opponent Luke Pletcher (Ohio State) will also be in the field. Pletcher had a very consistent 2017-18 season back down at a more natural weight. Considering some of his training partners at the Ohio RTC, it’s not a difficult argument to make that Luke should be the favorite at this weight class.
