Weekend Freestyle Round-Up

Fans of Senior-level wrestling were spoiled over the weekend. There was not one, but two separate events featuring high-level freestyle action. On Halloween night, FloWrestling hosted its 195 lb eight-man challenge with $40,000 in prize money at stake. In addition, a pair of women’s matches were held. The next day, the Hawkeye Wrestling Club got into the live event business with the Showdown Open. Eight preliminary matches, combined with a nine-bout main card, led to a huge event that was supposed to feature four Senior-level world medalists (Sarah Hildebrandt had to pull out late due to an illness). The HWC on TrackWrestling marked the latest streaming company to hold a stand-alone senior-level event this year, joining FITE TV, UFC’s Fight Pass, and the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club on Rokfin. Later we’ll get into some reviews on the production from the HWC along with plenty of other news and notes from the weekend.
