Friday and Saturday, all eyes in the world of women’s college wrestling will be focused on Marietta, Georgia as the WCWA Championships will be held at the Cobb County Civic Center. The 2019 tournament has a lot to live up to after the 2018 event featured a team race that went down to the last match, a brand new team champion, only the fourth four-time champion was crowned, twin sisters showing there are more important things than wrestling, and even a marriage proposal! While that may be hard to top, the 2018-19 season has been very interesting from a team race standpoint. It appears that in all likelihood we may have another first-time team champion. There is also an incredible infusion of high-octane freshmen that will contend for titles. Three weight classes feature freshmen that are currently ranked number one. We all will see four wrestlers attempt to capture their second WCWA individual titles, despite plenty of competition and potential roadblock. Additionally, women’s wrestling continues to grow by the year at the collegiate level, so we will see seven teams send wrestlers to the WCWA Championships for the first time.

Here is a weight-by-weight preview of the tournament and predictions for the top eight at each weight class, as well as a team race projection.
