This afternoon on Home Mat Advantage’s podcast with former Lehigh All-American, Mason Beckman, three-time World Team Member Jenna Burkert announced a change in her training plans. Jenna, a member of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program, will be splitting her time between the WCAP and Virginia Tech’s Southeast Regional Training Center. As a world team member at 57 kg in 2019, Jenna has already secured a spot in the Olympic Trials next year. Burkert earned a place on the 2019 team by downing world bronze medalist Becka Leathers at Final X: Rutgers.  She will be the first woman to train with the Southeast RTC. Jenna’s last competition was a special wrestle-off for the Pan-American Championships, held at the WCWA National Championships. She fell to 2016 Olympic Champion Helen Maroulis in two matches.

Jenna is the second 2019 world team member who has chosen to train with the Southeast RTC. Earlier this year, two-time world medalist James Green announced he was moving from Nebraska to Blacksburg.

Shortly after the Pan-American wrestle-off, TOM had the opportunity to speak to Jenna about her career, the WCAP, and being an ambassador for Adidas. Here is the full article.
