This week’s college wrestler of the week, Jathiya Isaac of Wayland Baptist University, earns the honor after her national championship at the NAIA Women’s National Invitational. Isaac went 4-0 at the 116 lb weight class and won her championship by upsetting WCWA national champion and Cadet world bronze medalist Gracie Figueroa (Menlo) 3-2. After an uneventful first period, the match was tied at 1-1, though Figueroa held criteria with about a minute remaining. Figueroa took an errant shot which allowed Jathiya two points for exposure. Gracie finished the flurry on top and brought the score to 3-2, which is where it would end in favor of Isaac. In each of her three matches before the finals, Jathiya won by tech falls 10-0.

In February, Isaac was third at the same weight class at the WCWA Championships. Her lone loss at that event was by an 11-1 tech fall to Figueroa. The senior, Isaac, finished her collegiate career as an NAIA national champion and two-time WCWA All-American.
