Recently TOM had the opportunity to speak with national team member and Final X 2019 participant Katherine Shai. Katherine talks about the recent #HowSheWrestles campaign, some stories that she enjoyed and the importance of getting them out to wrestling fans. With all of the turmoil over social media in the wrestling community over the past two weeks, Katherine sees it as a positive in advancing women’s wrestling overall. We also hit on her start in the sport, as the daughter of two-time Olympian and women’s wrestling pioneer, Lee Allen. Katherine also addresses some of the pushback that her sister Sara faced as she started wrestling before her. One of the big storylines from her Final X appearance was the two-plus year hiatus that Katherine took when having her son. She talks about if she thought her competitive career was over and then what make her return. Other topics include her relationship with the Northern Colorado WC, her last competition at the Pan-American Wrestle-Off’s in February, and LuchaFit. That and much more!
