Recently TOM got to sit down with 2019 World Team member Kayla Miracle. Kayla has recently made the move out to Arizona to follow former Hawkeye Wrestling Club Head Coach Mark Perry, who has taken a job coaching at Arizona State. Miracle gets into what makes Perry special as a coach and some of the differences in style and philosophy between him and her father, Lee, a national title-winning coach at her alma mater, Campbellsville. We also get into her start in the sport and how, at age four, she had dreams of becoming an Olympic gold medalist, even before the sport was offered to women in the Games. Now just two matches away from earning a berth on the Olympic team, Kayla relives her 2019 World Championship tournament, which includes a controversial loss in the Round of 16. Off the mat, Miracle has a lofty goal of attempting to try and rate every coffee shop in the greater Tempe area in hopes of being the perfect tour guide for future visitors. If you’re bored and playing “Call of Duty” or have movie recommendations, make sure to let her know!
