U20 world silver medalist Mesenbrink commits to Penn State
Wisconsin native Mitchell Mesenbrink, a U20 world silver medalist in freestyle, announced on Friday that he has committed to Penn State.
Mesenbrink made the announcement on WIwrestle.
He cited culture and training cycles as the main factors that went into the decision.
"I really wanted to go there since I was a little kid," Mesenbrink told WIwrestle. "I feel like the trust that I have in them before I've even stepped in the room, I feel like my ceiling is the tallest there and I feel like they can take me to level that only they can take me."
Mesenbrink, who has trained at the Askren Wrestling Academy, started his college career at Cal Baptist as a redshirt before leaving the school and entering the transfer portal.
He plans to wrestle at 157 pounds or 165 pounds for the Nittany Lions.
