Northern Colorado rolls at Armbar at the Armory

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Northern Colorado (4-0), receiving votes in the National College Wrestling Association Coaches Poll, cruised to a pair of victories at the Armbar at the Armory Friday.

The Bears cruised past Buffalo 35-6, winning nine of the 10 bouts in the opening match. In the nightcap, UNC claimed another nine victories, dominated Presbyterian College.

125: Stevo Poulin – ranked ninth by Intermat – claimed his third and fourth victories of the season. In the opener, Poulin earned a 20-5 tech fall victory, before closing his night with a pin, helping his team to early advantages.

133: Dominick Serrano picked up a pair of tech falls, closing out his opponent in the first set 19-4, before recording a 24-6 decision in match two.

141: Armando Garcia earned a 14-2 major Dec. in the first match, while Rudy Lopez saw action in the second match, recording an 8-5 decision.

149: Benji Alanis registered a pair of tightly contested matches, winning by a 3-1 decision in the first contest, followed by a 3-2 result in the finale.

157: Vincent Zerban – ranked 14th by Intermat - tallied nine points for the Bears in the two duals, first with a 17-4 major Dec., before earning a 16-1 tech fall.

165: Derek Matthews notched a 9-0 maj. Dec and a fall in 2:59, adding 10 points to the team totals on the evening.

174: Aydin Rix-McElhinney claimed a tech fall in the first match, before suffering a tech fall in the final two.

184: Branson Britten suffered a 10-5 setback, before Andrew Donahue netted a 5-2 decision.

197: Noah Pettigrew went 1-1 on the day, losing by a pinfall in the opener, before rebounding with a 2-0 decision.

285: Xavier Doolin recorded a pair of falls, winning 12 team points for UNC.
