Missouri dominates ASU
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The No. 3-ranked Missouri wrestling team won their first dual competition on Sunday, Nov. 19, against No. 21 Arizona State, 39-6. The 33-point margin is the largest over the Sun Devils in program history.
Redshirt junior Noah Surtin (125) got the match off to a fast start, pinning his opponent in 1:38. Redshirt sophomore Josh Edmond (141) returned to dual competition with a major decision, 14-3. No. 7 redshirt senior Brock Mauller (157) broke the dual wide open, dominating his opponent in a 21-5 technical fall, giving the Tigers a 15-6 lead going into intermission.
Mizzou continued to lay it on after the break. Top-ranked and two-time defending national champion Keegan O'Toole (165) earned a 20-6 major decision victory. In his dual debut, no. 11 Clayton Whiting (184) earned a 15-3 major decision, clinching the dual victory. Redshirt sophomore Colton Hawks bumped up for the dual, dominating his true-197 opponent in a 19-4 technical fall. Redshirt senior Zach Elam pin in the final matches added to the dominant victory.
