LEXINGTON, Va. -- The VMI wrestling team won both matches Sunday in a tri-match in Cormack Hall, defeating Limestone University 37-6 and Marymount University 49-0 in non-conference competition.

Sophomore Braxton Lewis, ranked no. 33 this week at 174 pounds by the College Wrestling Report earned extra points in both of his victories. He pinned his foe from Limestone in 4:54 and quickly earned a 15-0 technical fall against Marymount in just 1:26

Sophomore Tony Burke won two matches at 125, one by technical fall and one by major decision.

Other Highlights:

*Junior Josh Evans recorded two takedowns in the final 30 second to win 9-8 over his opponent from Limestone and bested his foe from Marymount 12-0 for a major decision
*Travis Fridley recorded 12 points on the day, one by pin and one with a default win
*Freshman Eric Doran and sophomore Ryan Vigil each had pins for VMI at 149 pounds
*Limestone defeated Marymount 50-0 in the day's other match
