Coe handles Buena Vista in home opener
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Coe College wrestling team picked up a dominant win in its home-opening dual on Wednesday evening, defeating Buena Vista University 45-9 at Kohawk Arena. The Kohawks earned bonus points in each of their victories throughout the contest, securing three falls and one major decision while winning three contests by forfeit. Cade Hornback got the dual started with a bang at 125, dusting his opponent for a 21-3 tech fall win. Dresden Grimm then picked up the first win by forfeit at 141 before BVU earned a sudden victory win at 149. Coe closed the match with six-straight victories to complete the dual, winning every bout beginning with 157. Gabe McGeough secured a major decision with a 10-2 victory prior to back-to-back falls from Will Esmoil and LJ Richardson at 165 and 174. Mathieu Arsenault claimed Coe's final bonus-point victory for the evening at 197, pinning his opponent in just 36 seconds at 197. Jared Voss and Wyatt Smith each earned victories by forfeit during the winning run for the Kohawks.
