Stanford dominates Drexel, tops Penn
PHILADELPHIA -- In its final nonconference dual, No. 20 Stanford won nine of 10 bouts to defeat Drexel, 34-6, on Sunday in Philadelphia.
The Cardinal improves to 7-2 on the season, while the Dragons drop to 2-7 overall. Five of Stanford's nine wins came by bonus points.
Stanford jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the dual as No. 12 Nico Provo and Dom LaJoie registered decisions at 125 and 133 pounds, respectively. After the Dragons tied it up with a fall at 141 pounds, the Cardinal reeled off seven straight wins.
Sophomore Daniel Cardenas, ranked No. 11 at 157 pounds, and senior Nick Stemmet, ranked No. 17 at 197 pounds, both won by technical fall to lead the way for the Cardinal.
Redshirt senior Jaden Abas, No. 21 at 149 pounds, redshirt freshman Hunter Garvin, No. 28 at 165 pounds, and true freshman Lorenzo Norman, No. 21 at 174 pounds, all notched major decisions.
Redshirt freshman 184-pounder Jack Darrah and senior heavyweight Peter Ming capped off the scoring with a pair of victories by decision.
Stanford returns to The Farm to open Pac-12 action on Sunday against Little Rock at 3 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.

Stanford tops Penn
With the dual on the line, Peter Ming secured a fall to propel No. 20 Stanford to a 20-16 win over Penn, Sunday, at The Palestra.
Stanford improves to 6-2 on the season, while Penn drops to 1-4. The Cardinal and Quakers each won five bouts, three coming by bonus points for Stanford.
Trailing 16-14 in the team score, the dual came down to Ming and Penn heavyweight John Stout. The senior registered his team-leading fourth fall of the season, putting Stout on his back in the second for the walk-off win.
Senior 197-pounder Nick Stemmet, ranked 17th nationally, recorded a 12-4 major decision over Martin Cosgrove to put the Cardinal in position to win the dual. Stemmet moves to 20-5 overall and 6-2 in duals.
Penn jumped out to a 10-0 lead, picking up wins in the first three matches. Redshirt senior 149-pounder Jaden Abas scored the first team points for the Cardinal with a 5-1 decision over Andy Troczynski. Abas improves to 3-1 in duals this season.
Sophomore Daniel Cardenas followed with a 14-3 major decision over No. 24 Lucas Revano at 157 pounds. Ranked No. 11, Cardenas is now 18-4 on the year and 7-1 in duals - five of those wins coming by bonus points.
Redshirt freshman Hunter Garvin, ranked No. 28 at 165 pounds, also picked up a win against the Quakers, notching an 11-4 decision over Kaya Sement. Garvin is now 13-8 overall and 3-3 in duals.
