UNC defeats Duke

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- On Senior Night, the North Carolina wrestling team (11-7, 3-2 ACC) won eight matches on the night over Duke, cruising to a 41-9 victory in Carmichael Arena.

The win for the Tar Heels is the largest margin of victory over Duke since the 2019-20 campaign.

Against the Blue Devils, Carolina collected three falls, two technical falls, one major decision, one decision and a forfeit.

Beginning the night at 125 pounds, Spencer Moore earned the first period pin over Logan Agin.

The Tar Heels then rattled off seven-straight victories, started by a decision from Jace Palmer (133). Carolina earned back-to-back technical falls courtesy of Jayden Scott (149) and Sonny Santiago (157), followed by a fall from Isaias Estrada (165) and a forfeit win credited to Tyler Eischens (174).

Rounding out the Carolina victories, Gavin Kane (184) and Max Shaw (197) cruised in their matchups, with a major decision and fall, respectively.

Up next, the Tar Heels are set to host the 2024 ACC Wrestling Championships from Carmichael Arena, on March 10.
