The Open Mat presents awards annually in three categories for each division of college wrestling at the conclusion of the season. Awards are presented for Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year and Wrestler of the Year.

Carolina Moreno of Southern Oregon had a dominant season at 130 pounds, winning her third consecutive national title without surrendering a single point in the postseason.

On Tuesday, Moreno was named 2024 NAIA Women's Wrestler of the Year by The Open Mat.

Moreno, a native of Somerton, Arizona, finished the season with a perfect record of 28-0. She had 10 pins and 14 technical falls this season. Moreno collected tournament titles during the regular season at the Menlo Open and Missouri Valley Open.

Her postseason run was utterly dominant. Moreno did not surrender a single point in eight postseason matches. At the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Wrestling Championships, Moreno opened with back-to-back pins before earning a10-0 technical fall in the finals.

Moreno continued her dominance at the 2024 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championships. She pinned her first two opponents to reach the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Moreno won by technical fall (10-0) over Lillian Avalos of Vanguard. She punched her ticket to the finals with a 10-0 semifinal victory over No. 4 Alyssa Randles of Providence. In the finals, Moreno jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first period against second-seeded Sarah Savidge of Life before closing out the 11-0 technical fall a minute into the second period.

She finished the season riding a 41-match winning streak dating back to 2022.
