The University of the Cumberlands women's wrestling team added an immediate impact wrestler to its team.

Katie Gomez, a 2023 U.S. Open champion, announced on Instagram that she will be joining the Cumberlands wrestling team. Gomez is a multiple-age group world medalist, winning a cadet world title in 2021 and a bronze medal at the 2022 U20 World Championships.

The Van Nuys, California native is expected to compete this season at 117 pounds.
