Bassett decommits from Iowa

Bo Bassett, one of the nation's top recruits in the Class of 2026, has reopened his recruitment.

Bassett, who competes for Bishop McCort High School in Pennsylvania, originally committed to Iowa in early February. On Sunday, Bassett posted on social media that he has decommitted from Iowa.

"After a lot of prayer and talking with my family, I've decided to decommit from the University of Iowa," Bassett wrote. "This wasn't easy, but I believe it's not the right fit for me as a wrestler, a person, or for my faith journey.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity, and I'll never speak a bad word about their program. This is about finding the right place God wants me to be. This is a huge decision in my life and it has to be the right one."

Bassett is a two-time Pennsylvania state champion with a record of 126-0. He won a bronze medal at the 2024 U20 World Championships in freestyle. This spring, Bassett reached the finals of the U20 World Team Trials before losing to Lehigh's Luke Stanich.

Bassett's final four list of colleges when he committed earlier this year included Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.
