Williamson resigns as Cornerstone head wrestling coach

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- After the inaugural season in 2021, head wrestling coach Chris Williamson has built the program up to succeed for years to come as he announced his chapter at Cornerstone has come to a close.

After starting the program in 2021, Chris has led his squad to numerous top events across the country to compete against top level competition. He has led his program to top four finishes every season in the WHAC Championship and has sent 10 athletes to Nationals, seeing three All-Americans.

Here is what Coach Williamson said about his time at CU, "I want to thank everyone who had a part in raising this program up from its inception in 2021. There are so many people, both from within Cornerstone's campus, and from the Grand Rapids/West Michigan community that played a part in getting this program off the ground. I am so grateful for the dedication that first few classes of wrestlers and families showed to the program. I am honored that they trusted me to help lead them and shepherd their growth as a wrestler and as a man for the last four years. I'm so happy to leave the program in such a healthy place. A special thanks goes to my staff—Sam, Eli, Kyle, and Denver—who shouldered so much of the load with me over the last four years. A thanks is also due to all the families of the program who served the team and my family so selflessly. We are looking forward to watching the continued progress of Cornerstone wrestling, it's brightest days are ahead! My family has experienced a lot of life in our short time here, and we are grateful to have been at Cornerstone University during those moments. We've been able to grow and flourish while at Cornerstone and we are exceedingly thankful to the Lord for our time in Grand Rapids."

Chris has had an important role in the lives of all his athletes as well as his staff members here at Cornerstone. He will be missed greatly here at Cornerstone, as well as his kids who loved to run around the Hansen.

Thank you for everything, Chris.
