DuVall named head women's wrestling coach at Alma
ALMA, Mich. -- Alma College Athletics is proud to announce Derick DuVall as the second head women's wrestling coach in program history, as announced by Interim Athletics Director Kiana Verdugo-Maday.
"We are excited to welcome Derick into the Scots family." said Verdugo-Maday. "We look forward to him building on the solid foundation of this young program going forward."
DuVall comes to Alma having spent the last two years as a recruiting specialist with Adrian College, and as wrestling coach in Port Charlotte, Florida. In that time, he has recruited student-athletes from over 20 different states, and coached multiple state qualifiers on both the men's and women's sides. This included a pair of state placers. His recruiting efforts also led to the doubling of his team's size from year one to year two.
"I am truly grateful to be a part of the journeys of these young women, and I look forward to furthering their growth as individuals and leaders." said DuVall. "I am also incredibly fortunate to be at Alma College. This institution offers everything a student-athlete needs to succeed, from its strong academic reputation and support systems, to its top-notch athletic facilities."
Prior to his move to Florida, DuVall was a Graduate Residential Assistant at Adrian College. He also has experience on the camp scene, working as an Assistant Director with Schindel Wrestling Camps, and as a Group Mentor with J Robinson Intensive Wrestling Camps.
DuVall is a 2023 graduate of MIAA opponent Adrian College, where he was a five-year starter, and three-year captain for the Bulldogs. While at Adrian, he was a three-time Academic All-American, and qualified for the 2023 NCAA Division III National Tournament.
A native of Burbank, Ohio, DuVall graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Adrian twice. In 2022 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Public Relations. In 2023, he earned his Master of Business Administration.
