Legendary college wrestling coach J Robinson passes away

Legendary college wrestling coach J Robinson has passed away at the age of 79.

Robinson spent 30 years as the head wrestling coach at the University of Minnesota, guiding the Gophers to three national championships, with the most recent national championship coming in 2007. He guided Minnesota to its first national championship in 2001 with a record 10 All-Americans and no national finalists.

During his time as Minnesota's head coach, Robinson coached 14 individual national champions. Prior to coming to Minnesota, Robinson served as an assistant coach at the University of Iowa under legendary coach and wrestler Dan Gable.

As a competitor, Robinson competed at Oklahoma State and later earned a spot on the 1972 U.S. Olympic team in Greco Roman.
