Rutgers lands heavyweight Herrera
Apr 12
Rutgers has landed one of the top heavyweights available in the transfer portal.
Daniel Herrera announced his commitment to Rutgers on Sunday. He spent the past two seasons at Iowa State.
Herrera was a national qualifier as a true freshman at 285 pounds in 2025 for the Cyclones. This past season, Herrera redshirted and finished runner-up at the Grand View Open.
He won a U23 national title in freestyle last year and earned a spot on the U23 world team.
Herrera is expected to replace the graduating Hunter Catka in the Rutgers lineup at 285 pounds. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
