All-American Crookham commits to Iowa
Iowa has landed one of the biggest names in the transfer portal: Ryan Crookham.
Crookham, who spent four years at Lehigh, announced his commitment to Iowa on Monday night.
"I am blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Iowa," Crookham wrote on social media. "Excited to pursue national titles in the black and gold. Go Hawks!"
In four seasons, Crookham compiled a record of 38-3. He placed third at the 2024 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at 133 pounds. Crookham defeated Cornell's Vito Arujau twice that season, including once in the EIWA finals. Arujau went on to win the national title that season, beating Crookham by major decision in the NCAA semifinals.
Injuries have kept Crookham out of the postseason the past two seasons. During the 2024-25 season, Crookham compiled a 5-0 record at 133 pounds before suffering a season-ending injury that prevented him from competing in the second half of the season. This past season, Crookham made his season debut on Jan. 10 but was lost for the season two weeks later.
He is expected to replace three-time All-American Drake Ayala in the Hawkeye lineup at 133 pounds.
