Iowa State signs four-time undefeated state champ Allen
Iowa State women's wrestling has landed one of the most decorated young wrestlers in the country.
Molly Allen, a highly ranked recruit from the Class of 2025, has signed with the Cyclones. Allen spent the 2025-26 season competing with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls Wrestling Club before making the move to Ames, where she joins one of the most intriguing rosters being assembled in women's college wrestling.
Allen is the latest addition to an Iowa State program that has also added NAIA national champions Piper Fowler and Christianah Ogunsanya from William Penn, Campbellsville transfer Makennah Craft, U20 World fifth-place finisher Daniella Nugent from Oklahoma State, Iowa native Greta Brus and Arizona standout Brooklyn Perez. The Cyclones are building toward their first official season as an NCAA women's wrestling program in 2027-28 under head coach Alli St. John.
Allen's resume is as impressive as any wrestler in her class. A native of Oakland, Iowa, she is a four-time Iowa state champion -- only the second girl in Iowa history to accomplish the feat -- and compiled a 103-0 record against girls competition after going 29-7 against boys as a freshman at Riverside High School. She also captured titles at the Fargo national tournament, the Super 32 and Preseason Nationals. In 2025, she was named Iowa High School Female Wrestler of the Year and earned the Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award. She and her brother Blake made history in 2023 and 2024 as the first sibling duo to win back-to-back Iowa state titles.
At the collegiate level, Allen won the 2026 USA Wrestling Women's Collegiate Club national title at 124 pounds while competing for the Cowgirls Wrestling Club, pinning her finals opponent in the opening period. Oklahoma State won the inaugural event with 192 points, with Allen one of four Cowgirl champions. She also placed second at the U20 Women's National Championships, establishing herself as one of the top wrestlers in the country in her age group.
